In order to produce black pepper sauce, also known as “shito,” for public consumption, a 58-year-old lady named Elizabeth Arthur, also known as Naana, used unwholesome ingredients. She was sentenced to a month in jail and a GH4,200 fine.
The Koforidua Central Police detained Naana, who was afterwards charged in court.
Madam Elizabeth was given a month in jail and a fine of GH4,200 by the court, which was presided over by Her Ladyship Nana Ama Dabrafin; however, failure to pay the fee will result in a 20-year prison sentence.

Elisabeth Arthur (Naana), the suspect, is a well-known vendor of fried fish in Koforidua, and she utilizes the “shito” made from decaying foodstuffs to go with her fried fish.
The mill owner who grinds the items said that after learning that Naana consistently sent tomatoes, peppers, and onions that were full of maggots, he became concerned.
He made the decision to follow madam Elizabeth one day only to learn that she obtained the components for her “shito” by collecting waste from kebab vendors, neighborhood restaurants, and market proprietors.
She then makes her “shito” in the mill before sending her grandchildren to sell the fish and “shito” outside the community’s favorite kenkey shop, where she is reported to draw the largest crowds.
The Koforidua Central Police were informed as a result, and they went on to fetch her up.
