Attacker Augustine Okrah of Bechem United and the Black Stars was sent off after getting into an uncalled-for fight with the assistant referee.

In the MTN FA Cup final match between Bechem United and Hearts of Oak, Okrah headbutted the assistant referee.

The 28-year-old forward enjoyed an outstanding season in the local premier division, scoring 14 goals in the same number of games.

On Sunday, June 26, 2022, during the 2021–22 MTN FA Cup finals between Hearts of Oak and Bechem United played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Augustine Okrah lost his composure in a fit of what is best characterized as “madness.”

Okrah, who had a fantastic season with Bechem United, headbutted the assistant referee because he didn’t agree with the decision made by the match official.

The humorous attacker received his marching orders from center referee Abdul Latif Adaari as a result of his unnecessary display of bravado.

In a video shared on Twitter and seen by Sports Brief, Augustine Okrah, who thought he had won a throw, was furious and headbutted the official after the assistant referee raised his flag in the opposite direction.

Okrah had been Bechem United’s finest player on the field before his “moment of madness” and contributed to the game’s first goal.

His pile driver proved to be too hot for Richmond Ayi, the goalkeeper for Hearts, who parried the ball into the path of the charging Emmanuel Avornyo, who scored with no hesitation.

Former Black Stars attacker and former Ghana U20 captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh gave Hearts the lead and ultimately the victory in the fiercely contested final, Hearts would tie the score in extra time of the first half.
