Alexander Djiku Named Footballer Of The Year At The 2022 Ghana Football Awards [Full list Of Awardees]

At the 2022 Ghana Football Awards in Accra, Strasbourg and Black Stars defender Alexander Djiku was named “Footballer of the Year.”

He won the accolade ahead of fellow Black Stars players Joojo Wollacott, Daniel Amartey, Thomas Partey, and Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu.

Grace Asantewaa of Real Betis was awarded Female Footballer of the Year, while Ampem Darkoa Ladies were named Female Team of the Year after winning the Women’s Premier League and the Women’s FA Cup.

Former Black Stars captain Abedi “Pele” Ayew was honored as a Living Legend for his contributions to Ghana football.

Rev. Adika, the guy who found Ayew in 1975 and offered him the opportunity to display his talents to Ghana and the globe, accepted the prize on his behalf.

The Nii Odartey Lamptey Rising Star title went to Felix Afena Gyan, while Alex Djiku was voted Foreign Based Player of the Year.

Djiku helped Strasbourg finish sixth in Ligue 1 and was instrumental in Ghana’s qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
