Black Sherif, a global superstar from Ghana, won the ‘West African Artiste of The Year’ award at the 16th Headies Awards in 2023.

His singular style and ability to tell stories set him apart, and this astounding win confirms his position as the leading figure in West African music.

Artists of West African heritage who made noteworthy contributions to the continent’s music landscape throughout the year were honored in the category “West African Artiste of The Year.”

The artist outperformed rivals from the West African region, including Gyakie, Camidoh, and Camidoh’s fellow countrymen.


Black Sherif extended his gratitude to his African supporters in general and to Konongo Zongo in particular after receiving the prize.

At the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta, the Headies Awards 2023 honored the increasing influence of African music on the international music scene.
