Artists of West African heritage who made noteworthy contributions to the continent’s music landscape throughout the year were honored in the category “West African Artiste of The Year.”
The artist outperformed rivals from the West African region, including Gyakie, Camidoh, and Camidoh’s fellow countrymen.
Black Sherif extended his gratitude to his African supporters in general and to Konongo Zongo in particular after receiving the prize.
“Thank you so much to the fans, to the listeners. Thank you Headies, thank you Nigeria Thank you Ghana, thank you Konongo Zongo, I love you,” he said.
Afrobeats performers included Ayra Starr, Asake, Rema, Victony, KCee, Oxlade, Johnny Drille, Blaqbonez, Spyro, Seyi Vibez, and FireBoyDML at the 16th Headies Awards.
