There was a horrific incident on Thursday night at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua. A gas explosion occurred within the Oxygen Unit, tragically resulting in the loss of a security personnel’s life.
The exact reasons behind the detonation of the oxygen cylinder are yet to be determined. At the time of the calamity, two other medical staff were in the vicinity but were fortunate enough to escape without injury.
The security personnel who unfortunately lost their life sustained serious injuries to the head. They were immediately rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and put on life support. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, they couldn’t be saved.
Following this distressing occurrence, the hospital’s administration has reached out to the bereaved family. They are also working closely with the police, who have begun a thorough investigation into the incident.
