Former President John Dramani Mahama has praised Ghanaians who promote Ghanaian foods by eating local beans and gari, also known as Gob3.
Gob3 eaters have a nickname for themselves; the delicacy is described as a “savior” by the Gob3 eaters association.
On October 27, 2022, John Mahama organized a public lecture on the country’s economic crisis, as well as some possible solutions to the economic hardship. During his speech, John Mahama praised the Gob3 Eaters Association, saying they are beneficial to the economy.
“Let us consciously eat more of our indigenous foods, such as yam.” Local grains include maize, rice, and our own rice. Gob3, cassava beans (laughs). Those of you who are members of the Gb Eaters Association. “You’re doing a great job for Ghana because you’re saving the country a lot of money,” he said.
During his speech, H.E. John Mahama emphasized the importance of eating locally produced foods, saying that it will “reduce the pressure on our currency.”
“Aside from the sugar, those who are also eating, the Koko Eaters Association-koose and koko. Apart from the sugar, they are also doing Ghana a good service. This way, we will reduce demand for foreign currency and reduce the pressure on our currency and boost domestic production to create a win-win situation,” said Mr. Mahama
