Samini Dagaati, a reggae and dancehall musician, has claimed that during his high school years, he was one of Greater Accra’s top sprinters.
Samini was a standout football player, but he always saw athletics as his main sport. He mentioned that while attending Accra High School, he competed for his school in brief sprint races and consistently finished first.
Speaking on Angel FM, he reminisced, “When I was a student, I had a passion for athletics. Those who knew me during my time at Holy Family in Mataheko were aware that I was an athlete. Unfortunately, the Senior High School I attended was new, so I couldn’t pursue athletics there.”
Samini continued by saying that he routinely competed in 100-, 200-, and 4×100-meter relay races and that he frequently came in as one of the top finishers, taking first place nine out of ten times.
After finishing junior high school, he even qualified for the Greater Accra 100-meter shortlist.
Recently, Samini Dagaati graduated with a degree in project management from the GIMPA’s Greenhill Campus, where he also presided over the SRC (student representative council).
