Inside Lionel Messi and Argentina’s Wild Dressing Room Celebrations After Mexico Win

On Saturday night, Lionel Messi and his Argentina teammates were seen celebrating their World Cup victory. After suffering a 2-1 loss to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, Argentina won its next two matches.

In their final group match, the South Americans still have to face Poland, and they are aware that a victory may secure them the top slot.

After their crucial 2-0 victory over Mexico on Saturday night, the team erupted in jubilant celebration for more than an hour in the locker room at the Lusail Stadium. The South Americans’ opening match at the 2022 World Cup ended in a shocking loss to relative unknowns Saudi Arabia.

And Lionel Messi’s magic proved to be the difference after his goal from outside the box paved the way for Argentina’s victory.

Enzo Fernandez then curled the ball into the top right corner after receiving a pass from Messi after a short corner to make it 2-0 for Lionel Scaloni’s side. Argentina players were clearly relieved at avoiding a defeat that would have seen them eliminated from the competition after post-game celebrations emerged online.

The reigning Copa America champions may still need to beat Poland or draw in their final game of the group in order secure qualification to the next round, but that did not stop them from celebrating in their locker room.

In a video posted on Twitter, spotted by Sports Brief, the players inside the dressing room can be seen dancing to loud South American music as they celebrate on-pitch success with a singsong.
