Lionel Messi, the FIFA World Cup champion for Argentina, ordered gold iPhones for each member of his squad and support staff who participated in the historic victory over France in the final in Doha 2022.
The 24-carat jewelry, valued at £175,000 (roughly GHS2.6 million), has the player names, numbers, and the Argentinian logo engraved on it, according to a story in The Sun. On Saturday, Messi had them brought to his apartment in Paris.
“Lionel wanted to do something special and blingy to celebrate his proudest moment,” their source was cited by The Sun as adding. He got in contact with businessman Ben Lyons, and the two of them jointly developed the design.

The CEO of iDesign Gold, Ben, was also quoted in the article as saying, “Lionel is not only the Goat, but he’s one of IDESIGN GOLD’s most devoted customers and contacted us a few months after the World Cup final. He claimed that in order to celebrate the incredible victory, he wanted to give each player and member of the staff a unique gift rather than the customary watch.
“So, I suggested gold iPhones inscribed with their names and he loved the idea.”
Argentina won their third world cup title defeating France 4-2 in penalties and captain Lionel Messi won his first world cup trophy.
