My Life Is Under Threat – NABCO trainee in viral NPP campaign Billboard Cries

Nicholas Teye, a former Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) trainee whose portrait appeared on governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) campaign billboards ahead of the 2020 General Elections, has revealed that his life is in danger as a result of threats from people unhappy with the Akufo-Addo administration’s governance.

In an interview with TV3, Mr Teye, 35, stated that he is unable to move freely around town without disguise for fear of being attacked by disgruntled Ghanaians who accuse him of being part of the NPP conspiracy that has led to their current economic difficulties.

He also stated that he receives phone calls from unknown individuals threatening to harm him if they meet him for being a part of the reason for their suffering in the country.

Nicholas Teye was the face of massive billboards across the country urging voters to keep the NPP government in power in 2020 so that the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), which provided temporary jobs for graduates, could continue. The billboards read, “Remember Me.” My livelihood is dependent on your vote.” The government has canceled the NABCO program.

Mr Teye stated that when he was a NABCO beneficiary, he was paid three hundred cedis for his face to accompany the words.
