Here are reactions from fans after Man United fans were asked to leave the Etihad at halftime after the Red Devils went back to their old ways against Man City on Sunday.
Manchester City welcome the Red Devils to the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, October 2, 2022
The hosts essentially won the match in the first half of what was a heavily one-sided game.
Phil Foden’s goal gave Guardiola’s team the lead just eight minutes into the game, kicking off the celebration for the Blues.
City extended their advantage after 26 minutes when Erling Haaland continued where he left off following a superb assist from Kevin de Bruyne. City seemed assured and clearly in control.
United failed to handle City’s pressure, and once again they paid the price as the hosts inflicted more suffering on their adversaries.
In order to increase City’s advantage, Erling Haaland and De Bruyne combined once more in the 37th minute.
However, the hosts suffered a little setback when Kyle Walker left the game in the 41st minute due to an injury. Sergi Gomez, a summer acquisition, came on to replace the defender.
However, even after Phil Foden scored his second brace in the 44th minute and Haaland changed roles as a provider, United still had no answer for the reigning champions, and the game appeared out of their hands.
The Red Devils were down by four goals at the break and had a lot of work to do in the remaining 45 minutes. It was a literal story of men vs. boys.
As the Red Devils attempted to contain their humiliation, United scored a third goal in stoppage time as Martial converted a penalty to grab a hat trick.
But by the time the game ended, City had already defeated their local rivals 6-3, so it was too little, too late for United.
