The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced its entry requirements for the 2025 recruitment exercise. The recruitment portal is accessible from Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and the deadline for online submissions is Friday, October 31, 2025
GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to apply, all applicants must meet the following general requirements:
Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
Be of good character.
Be medically fit by Armed Forces standards.
Be not married.
Be not bonded.
Have six (6) Credits (not less than Grade 6) at BECE including English and Mathematics.
Have six passes at WASSCE, with Grade D7 for Army candidates and Grade C6 for Navy and Air Force candidates in all subjects.
Meet the minimum height requirement of 1.68m (5’6″) for males and 1.57m (5’2″) for females.
For Military Police specifically, the minimum height is 1.75m (5’9″) for males and 1.70m (5’7″) for females.
Age Limits: Not less than 18 years and not more than 25 years for Non-Trademen and not more than 27 years for Tradesmen by December 30, 2025.

Special Requirements for Categories
The recruitment exercise is divided into several categories, each with its own special requirements in addition to the general eligibility.
Army Candidates (Category A)
Infantry/Armour/Artillery/Military Police: Six passes at WASSCE, including English and Mathematics.
Pay Corps: Six passes at WASSCE with Accounting or Business options, or RSA Stage III in Accounting, or Diploma in Business Studies (Accounting Option), or HND Accounting.
Engineer Corps: Requires a Technical, Vocational, Diploma, or Certificate in various fields like Electricians, Plant Mechanics/Fitters, Survey Assistants, Plumbers & Masons, Wood Construction Technology (Carpentry), Welders & Steel Benders, Topo/Architectural Draughtsman, and Plant Operators.
Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps (EME): Requires Technical, Vocational, Diploma, or Certificate qualifications in fields such as Automotive Technicians, Welding and Fabrication Technicians, Office Machine Technician, Driver Recovery Technician, Machining Technician/Weapon Technician, Automobile Electricals/Electronics Technician, and Biomedical Technician.
Signal Corps: Requirements vary by role, including System Operators (General), Network Technicians (e.g., CCNA, MCSE), Hardware Technicians (e.g., COMPTIA A+/N+), Radio Technician, and Telephone Technician. All roles require SSCE/WASSCE passes.
Information Technology (IT): Requires 6 passes at WASSCE including English and Mathematics, plus a Diploma or Certificate in fields like Network Administration, Database Administration, Computer Programming, or Web Designing.
Supply and Transport Corps: Requires 6 passes at WASSCE including English and Mathematics, plus qualifications such as Professional Driving Licence Class B (Drivers), Certificate in computer software applications (Supply Clerks/Storeman), Diploma/Certificate in Freight Forwarding/Air Travel and Tour (Movement), or a Certificate in Fire Fighting plus a professional Driving Licence Class B (Fireman/Woman).
Cooks: HND in Catering, Diploma in Catering, or NVTI Cert I & II/Proficiency II from a recognised institution.
Public Relations Corps: Diploma/Certificate (not less than one year continuous study) in Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, or a related field (Information Assistants, Photographers, Cinematographer).
Ordnance Corps: Includes roles like Storeman/Woman (WASSCE and Diploma in Business Studies and HND in Purchasing and Supply), Ammunition Technicians (WASSCE Science Student), and Tailors/Textiles & Cobblers/Leather Works (GES Intermediate Certificate or COTVET Certificate II).
Clerk General Duties: Requires 6 WASSCE passes including Credit in English and Mathematics, plus qualifications like RSA Stage III in secretarial duties or a Certificate in computer software applications.
Education Corps: Requires 6 WASSCE passes including English and Mathematics, plus a Teachers Post-Secondary Certificate A or a Diploma in Education.
Sportsmen: Must be between 18 and 25 years of age, have a proven track record in a recognised sports discipline (e.g., Football, Boxing, Athletics), and meet GAF physical standards.
Air Force Candidates (Category B)
Administration Branch (Air Force Police, General Duties Clerk, General Duties): Generally requires 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE, including English and Mathematics, with additional options for Clerks such as RSA Stage III in secretarial duties.
Hospitality & Catering Management: 6 credits at WASSCE (Home Economics Option), or GES Intermediate/COTVET Certificate II in Hospitality and Catering Management.
Supply Branch (Storeman/Supplier, Cobblers/Leather Works & Tailor): Requires WASSCE credits (Business Option) or GES/City and Guilds certificates in storekeeping or the related trade.
Engineering Branch (Airframe, Engines, Radio, Vehicle Mechanic, etc.): Requires 6 credits at WASSCE (Science or Technical Option) plus City and Guilds or GES Intermediate/Final Certificates in related technical fields.
Air Branch (Air Traffic Controller/Operations Clerks, Aero Firemen): Requires 6 credits (not less than C6) at WASSCE, including English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science (for Controllers) or a driving licence Class D (for Firemen).
Navy Candidates (Category C)
Executive Branch (Boatswains Mate, Radar Plotters, Wireless Telegraphist): 6 credits (not less than Grade C6) at WASSCE, including English and Mathematics.
Supply and Secretarial Branch (Writer, Stores, Cooks/Stewards, Tailors): Requirements vary, including WASSCE credits with specific subject options (e.g., Home Economics for Cooks/Stewards, Business Subjects for Stores) and relevant certificates/diplomas (e.g., Diploma in Computer Software Application, GES Technical Examinations Unit Certificate in Storekeeping).
Technical Branch (Artificers, Mechanics, Technicians, Drivers): Generally requires a Certificate in Computing or Information Technology (IT). Specific roles also require WASSCE credits in the Science Option, HNDs (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering), or City and Guilds/GES Technical Examination Unit Certificates.
Physical Training Instructors: 6 Credits at WASSCE including English and Mathematics, and must be a skilled sportsman in at least two sports with proven participation at the district or regional level in Ghana.
Medical Candidates (Category D)
For both Diploma and Certificate holders (e.g., General Nurses, Midwives, Technical Officers, Nurse Assistants), applicants must have qualifications from an accredited institution, and most roles require completion of mandatory national service and registration in good standing with the relevant professional council (e.g., Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana, Allied Health Professions Council).
Note: At least one (1) year of working experience in a recognized health facility is required for General Nurses, Midwives, and others.
Band Candidates (Category E)
Must have 6 passes at WASSCE for Army Candidates and 2 credits and 4 passes at WASSCE for Navy and Air Force.
Must not be more than 22 years for Regimental Band and not more than 28 years for Dance Band.
Must be able to sight-read musical notes and play Woodwind or Brass instruments.
General Duties Candidates (Tri-Service) (Category F)
Applicants must not be more than 30 years.
Must have 6 Passes at BECE and a Testimonial or Certificate in fields such as Agric Extension, Masonry, Carpentry, Electrician, Dog Handling, or Motor Cycle Rider.
How to Apply
Acquire an Electronic Voucher: Purchase an Electronic Voucher for GH₵ 200.00 from designated Post Offices across all regions (e.g., Burma Camp in Greater Accra, Kumasi Main in Ashanti Region, Tamale in Northern Region).
Access the Portal: Log on to the recruitment portal at http://apply.mil.gh using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
Apply: Enter your card serial number, pin code, and select your preferred arm of service and type of qualification (Non-Trademan or Tradesman).
Complete the Application: Page 1: Select your desired vacancy and preferred regional screening center (e.g., El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra, Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi).
Page 2: Upload a scanned passport-sized photograph (200 x 180 pixels), a valid email address, and a personal mobile phone number in the format (233244123456).
Page 3: Enter your WASSCE/SSCE and BECE results, including CORE MATHEMATICS and CORE ENGLISH. Upload scanned copies of your WASSCE or Trade Certificate.
Submission: Click the preview button to review your application, and then click the submit button. You will receive an instant email and text message with your unique Alpha Numeric Identification Number.

Printing: Print and keep a copy of the generated report, as you will need to present it if shortlisted.
Important Notes: Each scanned document to be uploaded (Passport picture, WASSCE, Trade/Technical certificate) shall not exceed 1 Megabyte and must be in PDF format.
Applicants are responsible for their own transportation, feeding, and accommodation throughout the recruitment exercise.
Only short-listed applicants will be invited for further physical screening.
