A popular restaurant in Tokyo, Japan is now getting hot on social media after they spent more than half a century without cleaning their barbecue sauce container.
A Japanese TV show recently featured restaurant Abe-chan, a famous Yakitori (Barbecue) restaurant where they boast that the secret to their yakitori flavor is the sauce jar they haven’t cleaned for 60 years.
Many viewers of the aforementioned Japanese TV show were shocked to see the sauce jar already packed with thick, boiling barbecue sauce. According to Abe-chan’s current owner, the sauce jar hasn’t been cleaned since the 1960s and he believes it spiced up their yakitori.
When asked the owner if she was afraid if they had a customer getting sick or food poisoning, she confidently replied that the food they served was clean and if their sauce jar was “dirty”, they cooked everything they sold perfectly Food and safe from bacterial contamination.
Abe-chan’s sauce jar has gone viral online and Japanese netizens have sparked discussions about it. Some of them were looted and said they would avoid eating at the restaurant. Too many pathetic Abe-chan patrons are defending it and saying they didn’t get sick after eating here several times.
Due to the controversy, netizens and customers in Abe-chan asked whether to clean the sauce jar or maintain the tradition of their restaurant.
