UCL: Kudus Mohammed, two other African players win Man of the Match Awards

Mohammed Kudus, a Ghanaian midfielder/forward, has won the UEFA Champions League Man of the Match Award for the second time this season.

Mohammed received the top individual award after scoring and assisting in Ajax’s 3-1 victory over Glasgow Rangers at Ibrox in Scotland.

Kudus was named Man of the Match in Ajax’s 4-0 victory over Rangers in the first leg, in which both teams scored.

Despite winning, Ajax’s point total was insufficient to advance them to the next round of the competition, so they were forced to compete in the Europa League.

Kudus and two other African players were named Man of the Match in the final round of games in this season’s Champions League group stage.

Mohammed Salah was named the best player in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Napoli, in which he scored the game’s first goal.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, a Cameroonian striker, scored in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 win over Inter Milan and was named Man of the Match.

Kudus and Choupo-Moting will represent Ghana and Cameroon at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, respectively.
