A Media Firm Is In Need of a Graphic Designer

As a Newsroom Graphic Designer, you will play a critical role in visually enhancing news stories and broadcasts across various platforms.

You will collaborate closely with editorial teams to create engaging and informative graphics that complement written and audiovisual content.

This role requires a strong blend of creative talent, technical skills, and an understanding of journalistic storytelling principles.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in graphic design, preferably in a newsroom or media production environment.
  • Proficiency in graphic design software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), and familiarity with motion graphics software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of graphic design work, including infographics, motion graphics, and on-air graphics.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into visually compelling designs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality, accuracy, and consistency in design work.
  • Passion for journalism and storytelling, with an understanding of the role that visual media plays in informing and engaging audiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with editors, reporters, and producers to conceptualize and create graphics that enhance news stories and broadcasts.
  • Designing infographics, charts, maps, and other visual elements to explain complex information and data in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Developing templates and style guides to maintain consistency in visual branding across multiple platforms.
  • Incorporating text, images, and multimedia elements into graphics for digital and social media platforms.
  • Utilizing motion graphics and animation techniques to enhance storytelling in video content.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, software updates, and emerging technologies in graphic design and multimedia storytelling.
